A foam rubber pillow, 14. inches square. GAUGE: 1 shell and 2 sc make 1 ¾ inches; 1 shell Row makes 1 inch.
Starting at bottom, make a chain 12 inches long.
1st Row: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, * skip 2 ch, 5 dc in next ch (shell made), skip 2 ch, sc in next ch,. Repeat from * across until there are 7 shells on Row, ending with an sc, skip 2 ch, 3 dc in last ch (half shell made). Cut off remaining chain. Ch 1, turn.
2nd Row: Sc in first dc, * shell in next sc, sc in center dc of next shell. Repeat from * across, ending with half shell in last sc. Ch 1. turn. Repeat 2nd Row until piece is square.
BORDER . . .
1st rnd: Sc closely around, making 3 sc in each corner.
2nd md: Sc in each sc around, making 3 sc in center sc of each corner.
Repeat 2nd rnd until piece measures 14 inches square. Join and break off.
Make another piece the same way. With wrong sides facing and working through both thickness, attach thread to any corner, sc in each sc around three sides, insert pillow and sc across the remaining side. Join and break off.
Claret and Aqua Pillow
COATS and CLARK'S O.N.T. "Speed-Cro-Sheen" MERCERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44:
3 balls of No. 59 Claret and 2 balls of No. 7-A Aqua.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2 / 0.
A foam rubber pillow, 15 inches in diameter.
GAUGE: 3 puff sts make 1 inch; 4 rnds make 1½ inches.
Starting at center with Aqua, ch 2.
1st rnd: 7 sc in 2nd ch from hook..join,
2nd rnd: 2 sc in each sc around. Join.
3rd rnd: Ch 3. (thread over, insert hook in same place as sl st, draw loop through and up to same height as ch-3) 3 times: thread over and draw through all loops on hook. ch 1 (puff st made). Make a puff st in each sc around. ,Join to top of first puff st.
4th rnd: Sc in back loop of each puff st and in each ch around. Join and break off.
5th rnd: Attach Claret to same place as sl st, ch 3, make a puff st in each sc around. Join.
6th rnd: Sc in same place as sl st, * sc in next ch (1 sc increased), sc in next 2 puff sts. Repeat from * around. Join and break off (14 sc increased).
7th rnd: Attach Aqua to first sc and repeat 5th rnd.
8th rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 14 sc evenly around. Join and break off.
Repeat last 2 rnds alternately, changing color on every other rnd until 18 rnds have been completed.
Do not break off at end of last rnd.
19th rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing as necessary to keep work fiat. Join.
Repeat l9th rnd until piece measures same as pillow.
At end of last rnd, join and break off.
Make another piece the same way. With wrong sides facing and working through both thickness, attach Claret to any sc, sc closely around to within l0 inches of first sc, insert pillow and sc closely around remaining edge. Join and break off.
Killarney and Aqua Pillow

4 balls of No, 70-A Aqua and 3 balls of No. 49-A Killarney.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 2 / 0.
A foam rubber pillow, 15 inches in diameter.
GAUGE: 5 sc make 1 inch; 2 dc and 1 sc Row make 11 ¼ inches.
Starting at center with Aqua, ch 5.
1st rnd: 25 tr in 5th ch from hook, insert hook in top of starting chain, drop Aqua, attach Killarney and draw loop through chain and through loop on book, thus joining rnd and changing color (always change color in this manner).
2nd rnd: 2 sc in same place as sl st (1 st increased), * sc in next tr, 2 sc in next tr. Repeat from * around. Drop Killarney, pick up Aqua. Join.
3rd md: Ch 3, dc in same place as sl st, dc in each sc, increasing 12 dc evenly around, drop Aqna, pick up Killarney. Join.
4th md: Sc in same place as sl st, sc in next 2 dc, * thread over, insert hook into sc on previous sc rnd, draw loop through, (thread over, insert hook in same sc, draw loop through) twice; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (puff st made), skip dc directly behind puff st, sc in next 3 dc. Repeat from * around, drop Killarney, pick up Aqua..Join.
5th rnd: Work as for 3rd rnd.
6th rnd: Sc in each sc around, increasing 19 sc evenly around.
7th and 8th rnds: Repeat last 2 rnds once more.
9th rnd: Repeat 3rd rnd.
10th rnd: Repeat 4th rnd.
11th to 16th rnds incl: Repeat 5th to 10th rnds incl.
17th to 21st rnds incl: Repeat 5th to 9th rnds incl.
At end of last rnd, join and break off.
Make another piece the same way. With wrong sides facing and working through both thickness to join, attach Killarney to any dc, sc in same place, sc in each dc around to within 10 inches from first sc, insert pillow and sc in each remaining dc. Join and break off.
